The Powers Electric A Type Select Maple in Ube Burst stands out immediately with a design language that feels unlike anything else on the wall. Inspired by vintage American car styling and Southern California surf culture, its flowing lines and sculpted trussed hollowbody construction give it a light, resonant feel while staying tight and controlled in the hands. What makes this particular guitar special, though, is the highly figured quilt maple top. I think Powers chose the perfect finish for it. The Ube Burst lets every ripple of the figuring shine through, creating incredible depth and movement.

The hardware and pickups are where this guitar really shines. The PF42 Silver pickups keep things clear and articulate with splashes of that airy hollowbody character, but are still focused enough to handle gain without becoming muddy. The CamTail vibrato is smooth and expressive, making everything from subtle movement to more adventurous playing feel effortless. It's easy to appreciate this guitar in photos, but the combination of the quilt maple top, the Ube Burst finish, and the thoughtful engineering really needs to be seen and played in person to be fully appreciated.
