The Powers Electric A Type Select Maple in Trans Magenta is a seriously striking take on an already distinctive design. The highly figured Quilt Maple top is the centerpiece here, with an incredible pattern that almost looks three-dimensional beneath the finish. Trans Magenta brings out every ripple of the figuring, transitioning from vivid pink and magenta tones in the center to a deep, almost black perimeter. With black pickups, no pickguard, and the contrasting natural wood edge, there's nothing distracting from that spectacular top.
Beyond the cosmetics, the A Type is a fascinating instrument in its own right. Its sculpted trussed hollowbody construction combines a lightweight, resonant feel with the precision and control of a modern electric. The PF42 pickups deliver clarity, articulation, and a distinctive airy character, while the CamTail vibrato adds an expressive, remarkably smooth playing experience. The striped Delrin knobs, machined hardware, and beautifully contoured body are all examples of the thoughtful design details that make Powers Electric guitars so interesting. This is one of those guitars that looks extraordinary in photographs but is even more impressive in person.
