Novo Guitars Serus J Custom | Starry Night

The Novo Serus J Custom has a way of feeling instantly familiar while still being unmistakably Novo. It takes the best ideas from classic American offset guitars and refines them with thoughtful design, exceptional craftsmanship, and an obsessive attention to detail. This one wears Starry Night, and I honestly think it's one of Novo's best finishes. From a distance it looks like a rich black, but as the light catches it, thousands of fine silver metallic flakes begin to appear, giving it the look of a clear night sky. Paired with the matching headstock and 4 ply tortoise shell pickguard, it's an incredibly classy combination that never feels overdone.

Under the hood, it's every bit as impressive. The tempered pine body keeps the guitar light and wonderfully resonant, while the tempered maple neck and rosewood fingerboard deliver the broken in feel Novo has become known for. The Fralin P90s have all the punch, clarity, and grit you could ask for, cleaning up beautifully while still snarling when you lean into them. Add the Mastery M1 bridge and NV vibrato with the Lightning Bolt arm, and you've got an instrument that feels stable, expressive, and incredibly inspiring to play.
