The Honga starts with a silhouette I'd know blindfolded, that classic double cutaway mahogany recipe Gibson made famous with the SG. Joe Knaggs picked it up and asked "what if we did this… differently?” Years running PRS Private Stock will do that to a person. So you get a carved master grade quilt maple top, a nitro finish thin enough to breathe, and hand built guitar that turns a garage rock icon into something that shows up in a tuxedo. I love what he did here.
I'm a sucker for blue, and this one gets me every time. Polar Burst can't make up its mind between icy silver and deep ocean blue, and depending on the light, neither can I. Open the case and it's like staring into water so clear it doesn't look real. I've lost a solid ninety seconds just tilting this thing before hanging it on our wall.
Underneath, it's every bit as serious as it looks. Mahogany body and neck bring the warmth and sustain, ebony board keeps it crisp underhand. Bare Knuckle Mule humbuckers channel that classic PAF voice with real touch sensitivity, roll the volume back and they clean up like a completely different guitar, dig in and they growl without turning to mud.
