This 2019 Gibson Custom Shop 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue is an absolute stunner, finished in a gorgeous Iced Tea Burst with one of the nicest flame maple tops we've seen on an R9. The figuring is exceptional, with tight, consistent flame running across the entire top and incredible depth as the light catches it. The golden amber center transitions beautifully into rich, dark red edges, giving this one a seriously striking look.
The back is equally impressive, with a vibrant cherry red finish that shows off the natural grain of the solid mahogany body. The classic '59 rounded neck profile feels fantastic in hand, with just the right amount of shoulder to make it feel substantial without being cumbersome. At 9 lbs 7 oz, it's got that unmistakable solid Les Paul feel.
A pair of Gibson Custombuckers delivers everything you'd want from a great '59 reissue. Warm, articulate cleans, thick and vocal lead tones, and plenty of bite when you dig in. Paired with the ABR-1 bridge, aged nickel hardware, and traditional Les Paul controls, this is a proper vintage-inspired Gibson through and through.
Complete with its original Gibson Custom Shop hardshell case and Certificate of Authenticity, this is a particularly beautiful example of an R9 that's ready for its next home.
