The Fender American Professional II Precision Bass in Dark Night refines one of the most influential and recognizable bass designs ever made without changing what made it essential. Dark Night blends deep blue into black, creating a subtle burst that feels understated but still has depth when it catches the light. It is a more refined, moody version of a traditional sunburst, paired with a rosewood board, white dot inlays, and classic chrome hardware. The aesthetic stays true to the Precision Bass identity, but with enough of a modern edge to make it stand out without losing its heritage.

In hand, this bass feels familiar but noticeably improved. The 1963 “C” neck shape sits right in that sweet spot, comfortable and easy to navigate without feeling too slim or chunky. The satin finish is smooth and fast, while the rolled edges and sculpted neck heel make longer sessions feel effortless. The 5-bolt asymmetrical joint adds stability while improving access higher up the neck, and the lightweight vintage-style tuners help keep the balance right. It has that classic P Bass feel with refinements so it feels broken in from the start.

Tonally, this is exactly what you want from a great P Bass, just with a bit more range and clarity. The V-Mod II split single-coil delivers thick, punchy lows with strong midrange presence that sits perfectly in a mix. It has the famous growl when you dig in, but also cleans up nicely for smoother, more controlled playing. The updated electronics and bridge design keep the top end more articulate so notes stay defined even when things get heavier. Simple controls keep it straightforward, but the range is all there in your hands. This is a Precision Bass that keeps the core sound intact while making it modernized, more comfortable, and equally at home in the studio, on stage, or in your bedroom.
