When Ernie Ball Music Man teamed up with legendary bassist Tim Commerford, they didn’t build just another signature model. They created one of the rarest StingRay Specials ever produced. Limited to only 50 instruments worldwide, each bass features a numbered neck plate, and this example is #2 of 50. For collectors, Music Man enthusiasts, and fans of Tim’s unmistakable sound, opportunities to own one of these are exceptionally scarce.
Finished in striking Quentin Blue with a satin ash body, matching headstock, black hardware, and parchment pickguard, this bass has a bold, purposeful aesthetic that perfectly reflects Commerford’s no-nonsense approach to tone. The roasted maple neck, ebony fingerboard, and hand-rubbed oil and wax finish deliver the smooth, broken-in feel that StingRay players love, while the custom adjustable finger ramp adds a unique touch inspired directly by Tim’s playing style.
Under the hood, the Music Man neodymium humbucker offers the punch, clarity, and authority the StingRay platform is famous for. A push/push passive volume boost, 3-way rotary pickup selector, and tone control provide a surprisingly versatile range of sounds, from aggressive rock tones to articulate, dynamic cleans. Combined with the string-through-body bridge, adjustable mute system, and stainless steel frets, this is a bass built to perform at the highest level while remaining one of the most collectible modern Music Man releases ever produced.
