Dingwall Guitars Super P Custom Shop 5 String | Assassin Supershift

Built in Canada by Dingwall’s Custom Shop, the Super P takes the legendary Precision Bass formula and completely re-engineers it through the Dingwall lens. You still get the simplicity, punch and authority that made the P-Bass an icon, but with Dingwall’s renowned multi-scale design, incredible low-B definition and exceptionally refined construction. This 5-string pairs an Alder body with a gorgeous 5-piece Roasted Northern Ash neck and Wenge fingerboard, weighing in at a very comfortable 8 lbs 10 oz.

The Assassin Supershift finish is absolutely killer. Under its matte top coat, the colour shifts with the light, from deep burgundy and aubergine to red, pink and purple; giving the bass a completely different personality depending on the angle. The Matte Black pickguard and hardware keep everything looking mean and modern, while that exposed Roasted Northern Ash neck adds an incredible natural contrast. It’s easily one of the coolest Dingwall finishes we’ve had through the shop.

At its heart is Dingwall’s handmade Dual-P neodymium pickup paired with a fully passive Master Volume and Tone-Fusion control setup. It delivers everything you want from a great P-style bass; huge punch, warmth and immediacy but with the clarity, even response and tight low end that have made Dingwall one of the benchmarks of modern bass design. Their Minimalist bridge, lightweight hardware, scalloped headstock and double-expanding truss rod are all part of a design where seemingly every detail has been considered.

The Super P is a brilliant example of what Dingwall does best: taking a familiar, time-tested instrument and making it feel genuinely evolved rather than simply modified. Canadian Custom Shop craftsmanship, premium woods, world-class hardware and electronics, incredible playability, and one seriously wild color-shifting finish make this particular Super P a standout.
