The Tom Anderson Icon Classic in Big Sparkle Candy Apple Blue makes a strong visual impact without sacrificing the signature Tom Anderson refinement. The finish is the star here, with a deep candy apple blue base loaded with a stunning sparkle flake that shifts and flashes under light, giving it a ton of movement and presence. The In-Distress Level 1 aging adds light checking and subtle wear, softening the fresh gloss look and giving it a slightly broken-in, vintage character. Paired with a pearl white pickguard, off-white plastics, and raw nickel bridge pickup cover, it balances flash with a softer, aged aesthetic that keeps it from feeling over the top.
In hand, this one feels dialled-in and effortless. The Happy Medium neck carve sits between slim and full, making it comfortable for a wide range of playing styles. The satin natural neck finish keeps everything smooth and fast, especially when paired with the stainless steel frets and compound 12”–14” radius. The 24 3/4” scale length adds a slightly softer feel under the fingers compared to a traditional S-style, making bends feel a bit easier and chords a little more relaxed. It is the kind of guitar that feels broken-in right away, with a responsiveness that makes you want to keep playing.
Tonally, this Icon Classic covers a wide tonal range while staying focused and practical. The SC1 single coils in the neck and middle positions deliver clear, articulate tones with a smooth top end and just enough warmth to keep things full without getting muddy. The HC2+ bridge humbucker adds more push and thickness, giving you a stronger midrange and tighter low end when you need it. The switching expands the range with the split bridge option in combined positions, letting you move from full humbucker drive into more glassy, single-coil-like textures without a significant volume drop. Clean tones have sparkle and depth, while driven tones stay focused and punchy. It is a versatile, player-focused setup that makes this guitar as every bit practical as it is visually striking.
