The Vibrato Bar is an Authorized PRS Private Stock Dealer
The PRS Private Stock McCarty 594 represents the absolute peak of what the Maryland shop can do. Built by the most skilled luthiers at PRS, these guitars are hand-selected, hand-finished, and spec’d with materials that rarely surface in the open market. They aren’t just “nice PRS guitars” — they’re heirloom-grade instruments made in microscopic quantities for the world’s most serious collectors.
This build is a perfect example of why Private Stock exists. African Mahogany, a highly figured Curly Maple top, a Curly Maple neck, and a Curly Maple/Ebony board set the foundation, wrapped in High Gloss Nitro and powered by 58/15 LT pickups. It feels alive, resonant, and responsive in your hands — the 594 platform at its most refined.
But what truly sets this guitar apart is the finish. Laguna Dragon’s Breath is already one of the most demanding stains in the Private Stock palette — but this one is different. The gradient from deep ocean blue into vivid emerald is flawless and the flame in the maple amplifies the transition like motion under glass. Without exaggeration, this is one of the finest Laguna Dragon’s Breath executions we have ever seen — visually perfect, symmetrically ideal, and tonally enhanced by the top it was matched to. If you’ve been waiting for the example of this finish, this is it.
And then there’s the inlay work. The reverse “Birds of a Feather” package on a split Curly Maple/Ebony board is one of the most intricate upgrades PRS offers. Each bird is individually cut and seated, forming a mosaic that dissolves into the stained maple end of the board. Because two different woods are involved, alignment, grain, and color matching become exponentially more difficult — and that’s exactly why collectors chase this option. It turns the neck into moving artwork and ties the entire color palette together from headstock to heel.
Private Stock guitars like this don’t just check spec boxes — they showcase execution that can’t be mass-produced. Between the materials, the inlay, the nitro, the 594 platform, and a truly world-class Laguna Dragon’s Breath top, this guitar belongs at the center of a serious collection.
