This PRS Private Stock Hollowbody II leans into the carved archtop world, but keeps one foot firmly in PRS territory. The bearclaw spruce gives the guitar a completely different voice and feel compared to the more common maple builds. On top of that, the level of wood selection is as high as it gets. The curly maple on the back and neck is true master grade, deep, tight, and consistent from every angle. This is a $18,000 USD/$25,000 CAD build, if you can even spec it this way, which makes this example a serious opportunity. It is also absolutely flawless.
Instead of the usual headstock eagle inlay, this one is hand signed by Paul Reed Smith himself, adding another layer of uniqueness to an already standout spec.
Visually, this is one of those guitars that does not rely on tricks. The bearclaw spruce top has that natural, organic figuring that moves subtly under the light, while the curly maple back and neck bring all the depth and intensity. It is a perfect balance between understated and high end. Nothing feels overdone, just exceptional wood doing all the work.
Tonally, the spruce top changes everything. It is more open, more immediate, and more acoustic in its response. Unplugged it is loud and alive, with a natural warmth that never gets muddy. Plugged in, the 57/08 pickups keep that clarity intact. Clean tones are articulate and full, and when you push it, it holds together in a way that lets you cover serious ground without losing definition.
