This guitar is part of Music Man’s Ball Family Reserve (BFR) program—a limited-production model reserved for select builds and finishes—and includes the original BFR certificate, underscoring its collectibility and premium status within the JP lineup.
The Music Man JP13 7-String is a refined, high-performance instrument built for precision, comfort, and reliability. Designed in collaboration with John Petrucci, the JP13 combines modern electronics with ergonomic design and exceptional build quality, making it equally at home in the studio or on stage.
This example features a basswood body with a maple top and mahogany tone block, offering a balanced tonal response with strong note definition across all seven strings. The 25.5" scale length and select mahogany neck provide a familiar feel with added stability, while the rosewood fretboard with 24 stainless steel frets ensures smooth playability and long-term durability. A 17" fingerboard radius and sculpted 5-bolt neck joint allow easy access to the upper frets and support fast, controlled playing.
Electronics are versatile and thoughtfully laid out. DiMarzio Illuminator humbuckers deliver clear, articulate tones for both rhythm and lead work, while the Music Man piezo floating tremolo adds an additional acoustic-style voice when needed. The onboard 20 dB gain boost, activated from the volume knob, provides a practical increase in output without reaching for external gear. Dual 3-way switching for magnetic and piezo pickups offers a wide range of usable sounds in a straightforward format.
Finished in Platinum Silver with a matching high-gloss neck, this JP13 presents a clean, modern aesthetic that reflects the guitar’s professional focus. Well balanced, comfortable, and highly adaptable, the JP13 7-String is an excellent choice for players looking for a dependable, versatile extended-range instrument.
