An unforgettable expression of Tom Anderson’s artistry, this custom Angel is the kind of guitar that stops you mid-sentence the moment light hits the top. Built around a hand-selected WakeSurf quilt maple top over swamp ash, this isn’t just a finish choice — it’s a deliberate pairing, chosen specifically to let the grain, depth, and movement come alive under the Sheer Blue WakeSurf treatment.
In person, the finish is nothing short of mesmerizing. The sheer is subtle and refined, allowing the figuring to breathe rather than overpowering it, yet it explodes with dimension as the light shifts. Deep ocean blues melt into lighter aqua tones with an almost liquid depth, accented by the faint sparkle that only reveals itself when you move the guitar — understated, elegant, and spectacular all at once.
Flip it over and the details continue to impress. The black back with matching blue dog hair ties the entire aesthetic together beautifully, echoed again in the matching headstock logo, giving this Angel a cohesiveness that feels intentional and bespoke from every angle. Nothing feels accidental here — it’s a perfectly resolved visual statement.
Of course, this Angel is far more than a looker. The swamp ash body delivers snap and clarity, while the Even-Taper maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, stainless jumbo frets, and 12–14" compound radius make the guitar effortless under the hands. The satin neck finish disappears as you play, and the Buzz Feiten system keeps everything perfectly in tune across the board.
Tonally, the HC1 / HC3 humbucker pairing offers huge range and authority. From pristine cleans to muscular rhythm tones and soaring leads, the 5-way switching unlocks series and split voices that cover serious ground without ever losing focus or articulation. Add the vintage tremolo and locking tuners, and you have a guitar that’s as stable and expressive as it is inspiring.
This isn’t just another Angel — it’s a thoughtfully curated, visually striking, and sonically versatile instrument built for players who appreciate nuance, restraint, and perfection in the details. A true modern classic, elevated by taste, intention, and execution.
