The Mayones Cali is one of the coolest instruments on the planet — a compact, travel-ready bass that still delivers the unmistakable Mayones feel, tone, and craftsmanship. Half the size but absolutely full-scale in attitude, the Cali takes the same boutique philosophy as the Caledonius line and distills it into something effortless to grab, inspiring to play, and shockingly versatile.
This one takes things in a totally different direction with a Spruce top and Swamp Ash body, giving it a more open, airy resonance thanks to its semi-hollow construction. The result is a beautifully expressive low-end bloom and an organic acoustic sweetness you don’t typically find in compact travel basses. Paired with the familiar 11-ply neck (maple, mahogany, wenge, amazakoe) and a smooth fretless ebony board, this Cali delivers that singing, vocal-like glide with tons of dynamic nuance. It’s lightweight, incredibly touch-responsive, and feels alive in your hands from the very first note.
What really sets the Cali apart is its built-in flexibility: the Mayones Musashi Nitōryū preamp with 3-band EQ, Velvetrone Noble pickup, USB-C internal power, and the killer headphone amp + AUX input. Handbuilt in Gdańsk using top-tier materials (including reclaimed tonewood offcuts from full-size builds), the Cali remains one of Mayones’ most limited and unique creations.
