The James Tyler Studio Elite HD in See-Thru Turquoise over Black Shmear is a killer example of what makes Tyler guitars so desirable among modern session players and boutique S-style fanatics. The Shmear finish delivers that unmistakable Tyler visual chaos—artistic, loud, and instantly recognizable—paired with a black headstock and matching tint over the silver logo for a cohesive custom look.
Unlike many S-style builds, this one uses a solid mahogany body with a mahogany Standard ’64 neck and Pau Ferro fingerboard, giving it a richer midrange voice, smoother highs, and a focused low end. Wide/tall frets plus a 1 11/16" nut make for a familiar, fast feel with tons of left-hand control—ideal for expressive bending, vibrato, and high-precision studio phrasing.
Electronics are pure Tyler versatility: a Retro in the neck paired with a Super-X humbucker in the bridge, plus a push/push tap that splits the Super-X into a Retro. Add the midboost preamp with bypass and you’ve got a platform that moves from glassy vintage cleans to fat, aggressive leads with a single button. The rear-routed control layout keeps the pickguard-free aesthetic clean and modern.
Hardware includes a G2TS trem, Hipshot locking tuners, and gold dome knobs—a setup that feels solid, stays in tune, and adds just the right premium touch. It ships in a G&G Tyler Signature hardshell case, completing the boutique package.
