The Gibson SG Standard in Heritage Cherry is about as classic as it gets. When the SG debuted in the early 1960s, the Heritage Cherry finish really made it stand out. It’s bright, bold, and instantly recognizable. Under the gloss nitro finish, the finish has depth and richness, sitting perfectly overtop the mahogany body.
In hand, it delivers exactly what you expect from a classic SG. The guitar is light, resonant, and really direct, with that natural midrange bite when you lean into it or increase the gain. The Gibson 490R and 490T pickups stay clear, react quickly, and are easy to get great tones from. This SG Standard in Heritage Cherry is a straightforward, no-nonsense SG that nails the feel and sound people and players alike have come to love for over half a century.
