Some guitars don't need a loud finish to make a statement. The Les Paul Custom has always been one of them. Since its introduction in 1954, the "Black Beauty" has represented Gibson at its most refined, taking everything people loved about the Les Paul and dressing it in a tuxedo. This Made 2 Measure Custom Shop example carries that legacy beautifully, pairing the timeless Heavy Antique Ebony finish with Gibson's Heavy Aged treatment. I love that it looks like it's already spent decades making records. Personally, I think black is the hardest finish to get right, and this one absolutely nails it. The aged gold hardware, multi ply binding, mother of pearl block inlays, and split diamond headstock all work together without any one detail shouting over the others.
Under the hood, it's exactly what you'd hope a Custom Shop Les Paul would be. A one piece mahogany body, maple top, Custom S Buckers, hand wired electronics, and the classic ABR 1 bridge give it that warm, authoritative voice these guitars are famous for, while the comfortable '60s C neck makes it feel familiar from the first chord. This one remains in mint condition with its original Gibson Custom Shop case and Certificate of Authenticity. If there was ever a guitar that proved black never goes out of style, I think this is it.
