The Dingwall Z3 Custom Shop represents the absolute pinnacle of what Dingwall is capable of building. Handcrafted in Canada and built without compromise, the Z3 combines Dingwall’s groundbreaking engineering with exotic materials, obsessive craftsmanship, and a level of detail reserved for its finest instruments.
This particular Z3 is absolutely spectacular. The Buckeye Burl top is loaded with wild, organic figuring, brought to life by a Natural to Blackburst under a deep gloss top coat. But it’s the details that really set this one apart. Buckeye Burl block inlays run the length of the Macassar Ebony fingerboard, matching the top and tying the entire instrument together. Paired with the matching headstock and White Pearloid headstock inlay, the result is equal parts elegant, aggressive, and unmistakably Custom Shop.
Underneath the exotic appointments is everything that makes the Z3 such a serious instrument. Its Dual Density Swamp Ash body and 5-piece maple neck provide a responsive, articulate foundation, while the 37–34” multi-scale design delivers the clarity, tension, and string-to-string balance Dingwall is famous for. Three Super-Fatty II pickups paired with a Darkglass 3-band preamp and toggle switching provide an enormous tonal palette, from pristine definition to massive modern punch.
This is Dingwall at its best: exotic woods, incredible detail, cutting-edge design, and Canadian Custom Shop craftsmanship in one seriously special bass.
